Why Agnostic and Not Atheist
I think we are sometimes too sure that human perception and intelligence can account for the whole of reality: that there are no components or elements that exist beyond what can be measured, calculated, observed, analyzed, hypothesized or theorized. Therefore, to some, the idea of god is preposterous. This may be true but, to me, the idea that human understanding of reality is or ever could be absolute seems equally preposterous.
We possess senses which allow us to perceive those parts of reality which have a bearing on our existence and survival. We possess intelligence and reason (and imagination), which we use to extrapolate the model of reality based on what the senses perceive, thus allowing us to move beyond the senses in our understanding of things. But the horizon of that understanding moves. There's always more to learn.

I have yet to settle on my opion, for the exact reasons you state. Thanks for putting it into words.
Cheers!
I choose to believe there is meaning, purpose and poetry to the universe's natural flow. It goes without saying that not everyone would see that poetry or could read it, but neither would I say my interpretation of its physical poetry is absolute. The only line I draw is that it's important to see some kind of movement and beauty within existence. Those that seen none nor invest any emotional, physical or spiritual reason astound me more than those that are deluded by it.
