People love to ask you what you do. They love to know what you're good at, what your title is, what your skills are. Everybody wants to know what you're contributing to the greater "good".
Maybe it's just a cultural thing here in America. I don't know. I don't go other places. It's not my thing. All I know is that it's irritating. It's like asking, "Hey, what good are you?"
It always smells like a trap to me. I hate answering the question but I think I've finally (after but a few mere decades) figured out a response.
Here's your answer, you consumerist, results-oriented, hard-charging, intrusive pod people, you:
I AM THE WORLD'S FOREMOST AUTHORITY ON DOING WHAT I WANT, WHEN I WANT. I'm fucking AWESOME at that. The BEST. If you need someone to take a chunk of time and spend it however they see fit, I'M YOUR MAN. CALL ME.

it is ALWAYS good to blow off steam that comes from the pressures that other "stupid" people cause.(i have alot of them at where i work). if you dont, then something happens.....i think they call it "murder"???
Hey man, chill out. If I ever ask you what you do, it's because I want to know what you care about.
It's telling to see what people expend their labor on. What you do is all you are.
Of course you're right, Anonymous. I was just having a bit of fun with some hyperbolic ranting. I realize my sense of humor doesn't necessarily translate well on the ol' Internet, but when I'm doing the whole "all caps, expletive-laden tirade" thing it's usually (like, 99.9% of the time) a complete goof. This is a prime example.
I don't really mind people asking what I do at all. I was just feeling a little rambunctious.
i dont know about anybody else, but i knew it was all in fun. i mean hell, it was the weekend! most people get excited when its the weekend, right? friday is when you blow off the steam( even when you have a different sense of humor) oh well......
